- Proposal reviewing
- I regularly review grant proposals to National Science Foundations (and similar agencies) in Switzerland, the United States, United Kingdom, France, Canada, Sweden, The Netherlands, Belgium, Flanders, and for the AXA Research Fund.
- Advisory boards and selection panels
- I have also been a member of the selection committee panel for postdoctoral fellowships from the AXA Research Fund and for grants from the Swedish Research Council. I served on the scientific advisory board for the Nordic Countries top-level research initiative Interaction between climate change and the cryosphere (NORDFORSK ICCC).
- Other contributions
- I was a contributing author to the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report, and a nominated peer reviewer of the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report.
- I conceived the Wetland and Methane Model Intercomparison Project (WETCHIMP) and I am a participant in the Paleoclimate Model Intercomparison Project (PMIP), and the Fire Model Intercomparison Project (FireMIP)
